Minneapolis Seasonal Porch Addition

Our Minneapolis homeowners chose to embark on the new journey of retirement with a freshly remodeled home. While some retire in pure peace and quiet, our homeowners wanted to make sure they had a welcoming spot to entertain; A seasonal porch that could be used almost year-round.

The original home, built in 1928, had French doors which led down stairs to the patio below. Desiring a more intimate outdoor place to relax and entertain, MA Peterson added the seasonal porch with large scale ceiling beams. Radiant heat was installed to extend the use into the cold Minnesota months, and metal brackets were used to create a feeling of authenticity in the space. Surrounded by cypress-stained AZEK decking products and finishing the smooth look with fascia plugs, the hot tub was incorporated into the deck space.

Plymouth Home Revamps Hall & Guest Bath

When our homeowner’s became empty nesters, they chose to remodel their home to fit their current needs and desires. After remodeling their kitchen and <lower level> spaces, our Plymouth homeowners reached out once again  to MA Peterson for their upper level remodel, one that would include their hallway and guest bath.

Previously, the upstairs hallway was narrow and dark. Our homeowners wanted a larger, brightened platform that allowed access to the four upper level rooms. Creating the wider vestibule involved stealing space from the guest bathroom– one that previously had a strange configuration including two doorways and two vanities. Once the area was enlarged, ceiling lights and an exquisite 7-foot sconce were added to increase illumination and play off of the beautiful, custom crisscross box beams.

Once the layout of the guest bathroom was modernized, our homeowners sought to create a welcoming and traditional feel with their guest-dedicated space. A striking vanity steals the eye with its intricate details. The selection of the ceramic tile that bears a resemblance to marble continues the desire to have an aesthetically beautiful and interesting bathroom where no detail was left behind.

The oak floors from the bottom of the stairs to the top were refinished and stained with a deep brown and blue overlay. Underfoot is a wool basket weave carpet set on both the stairs as well as the hallway runner. The oak handrails were upgraded to be straight Hampton-style, and were stained to tie in with the tone of the floor, which helps to unify the other rooms. At the top of the stairs, a beautiful freestanding armoire greets guests, filled with freshly scented sheets for a good night’s rest. This now gorgeous and welcoming vestibule to our homeowner’s upstairs, is a beautiful remodel, nothing short of fabulous, and one that friends and and family will consider themselves lucky to be a guest.

Plymouth His and Her Closet Addition

Organization for the day ahead starts in the same place for many; the closet. Our Plymouth, Minnesota, homeowners had dreamed of a lush and spacious closet for all that goes into getting ready for their day. After living for many years with two cramped closets inside their bathroom, they decided it was time for their dreams to come true.

Our homeowners connected with MA Peterson for their third remodel project, a symbol that speaks volumes of how impressed they have been with our work, creative designs and unparalleled service. MA Peterson’s biggest challenge was to build the closet above the empty space above the garage, needing the trusses to be hand-built. The once dark and confined shared space was now a grand space with two windows offering natural light from both north and south.

Upon entering the bedroom, the eye is directed beyond to the custom clear alder stained armoire which divides the his and her spaces. Trademark Wood Products created custom closet built-ins, including a TV to catch the latest news before leaving the house. With organized storage and customized pieces to fit your needs, our homeowners dreams have come true.

Dining Creekside in Edina

In older homes, spaces that once made sense can be altered to enhance the way we live today, and in this case, a larger and open layout was essential. Our Edina homeowners wanted the space to work for their family and to allow for entertaining.

Formerly, the kitchen and dining spaces were smaller in size and lacked views of the beautiful outdoors. Working with the homeowners, MA Peterson transformed the kitchen and dining room to incorporate the beautiful creek views of Minnehaha into their casual yet expansive entertaining area.

Adding 10-foot sliding glass doors brings in natural light and allows the homeowners to extend family meals or entertaining outside onto the patio overlooking the creek. The two-tiered, 10-armed Hubbardton Forge chandelier offers traditional modern lighting to set the mood for any occasion.

Serving Bar Station Sets Up for Entertaining

At times, a home remodel is the perfect occasion to discover opportunities in one’s design and comfort. In this case, an entirely new space was added to expand the entertainment scene. Our Edina homeowners wanted to create their space to include the feel of cabin life at home on Minnehaha Creek.

MA Peterson met all the homeowner’s entertaining needs, which included a much-desired area for bar serving that opened up to the newly-added circular four-season porch. Having one location for food and drink staging was a priority for our entertaining couple, and using the transition space between the existing mudroom and kitchen granted perfect access to the prep area nearby. With refrigeration and a beverage center, it’s a great space to host a bartender during an event or to use daily as a cozy spot.

The room was created to stand out, and it does just that. The existing stone from the exterior of the home was brought indoors as the surround for the serving bar, giving the perfect rustic pub room feel. The cabinets were stained a dark cherry to match the stain found throughout the house, and Rembrandt glass mosaic tile was added to break up the darker hues. The white bead board ceiling behind the stone wall was lowered and a unique Milton Road pendant, perfectly setting the mood to give it that pub room touch.

All-Season Circular Porch Overlooks Creek

With little to no time for cabin life, our Edina homeowners wanted to create their own space to include dream shares of the ‘great north’ at home. MA Peterson designed and built the circular porch addition to meet all the homeowner’s needs as well as offering breath-taking views overlooking the Minnehaha Creek.

Surrounded by windows, one can take in the naturistic views from high above the creek. It’s possible the most brilliant feature of this room is the glass window cupola, giving an abundance of light to the entertainment space. Without skipping any small details, a bead board ceiling was added as was a 60-inch wood-bladed fan to move the air around in the space, especially when the circular windows are all open.

The airy four-season porch was designed as a place to entertain in a casual and relaxed setting. The sizable blue Ragno Calabria porcelain tile was continued from the outdoors and includes in-floor heating throughout the indoor space, for those chilly fall and winter days. Access to the outdoors from the either side of the curved, spacious room makes enjoying all the sights and sounds of great backyard living an escape of its own.

Pairing Wine with University Sports

The homeowners of this Edina home are huge University of MN boosters and wanted to create a lower level living space that reflected their love of college sports and fit their entertaining lifestyle.

The homeowners wanted a hidden wine cellar to house their extensive collection of wines, and allow the homeowners to reminisce of European getaways.

The face of the granite has a rough rock pitch edge, giving it an authentic cellar look. Cork flooring was chosen to complement the cork of the wine bottles, and niches, finished with limestone ledges, were built and lined with wine boxes from shipments of wine from around the world. Trademark Wood Products built custom mahogany racking for the wine collection. The combination of the limestone, cork floors and granite tops with subtle maroon and gold specks are combined to recreate a beautiful vacation spot close to their hearts.

Take a look at the entertainment space in the lower level of this Edina home. This project was done in collaboration with M. Gilbertson Design.

Extraordinary Plymouth Wine Cellar

After completing this Plymouth homeowner’s showcase kitchen and main floor remodel in 2011, MA Peterson was thrilled to be asked back for the home’s lower level project.

The original basement was a clean slate, from stud walls to the concrete floor, leaving minds to flow creatively when creating the unique space. With a space for entertaining family and friends in mind, the lower level was transformed into their dream space.

Now, a wonderful balance of European flair and modern decor enchants the lower level. Tucked away beyond the bar area, with a short intimate walk down the hall, is the quaint European circular wine cellar. This space takes advantage of the round architectural detail and is home to over 195 bottles of the finest wines. In this climate-controlled space, guests can enjoy the ambiance while sitting at the wine table. Custom mahogany wine racks and wave-like shelving, in addition to the custom built cabinetry, takes full advantage of the intimate lighting and “sipping experience”. One cannot miss the beauty in the natural stone walls and delicately beautiful porcelain tile that tie into the mahogany wine storage.

Glamorous Entrance into 1930’s Past

Our south Minneapolis homeowners were expanding and remodeling their Park Avenue condo by combining three smaller units into one larger space in the legendary co-op near the American Swedish Institute. The 1930s building retained much of its Art Deco charm, and its stately grandeur inspired the homeowners’ personal style throughout their home renovations.

The two original side-by-side entryways became a spacious foyer with a unique Brazilian cherry floor, outlined by black wedge wood and brass inset. The Art Deco sconces in the foyer set the mood in this glamorous space.

In the adjacent formal dining room, a floor of basket-weave oak and Brazilian cherry added to the distinctive setting for an elegant table beneath a 1930s French Deco Chandelier. The sunken ceiling was added and painted, in sync with the walls, a metallic silver to show off the room in all its splendor.

Boathouse Restoration

With their lake home boathouse destroyed by fire, our Shorewood, Minnesota, homeowner call upon MA Peterson to rebuild a beloved family leisure spot. While keeping to the original footprint to not disrupt the views, MA Peterson accepted the challenge of the project in its entirety.

Accessing the land was a challenge in itself. The boathouse sat 90 feet below the main house, with a steep-graded hill that was accessible by tram. Not only was the hillside a challenge, but also the set-back to the lake, DNR codes and complying with city regulations. MA Peterson was also tasked with reforesting the area - rebuilding with a manner and size as it previously was. Challenging logistics also included ferrying the parts and materials by water.

Additionally, the homeowner requested that the roof of the boathouse be used as an alternative entertainment level, requiring MA Peterson to structurally build and design the exposed steel beams to not only be structurally sound to hold a hot tub, but also aesthetically pleasing from the lake view and main house.

The end result was one of great beauty with steel structure and exposed beams surrounded by two multi-level decks. The perfect place to enjoy with family and friends, whether kayaking or bar-b-que.

MA Peterson won the 2016 Chrysalis National Award for Residential Insurance Restoration for this project.

Lake Harriet Home Renews Four Season Porch

A longtime client, who MA Peterson originally custom built the home for in 2005, came back to us hoping for minor modifications that better suited their needs for 2016.  Although their south Minneapolis home already had a beautiful three season sunroom attached to their home, they were ready to open it up and make it into a more usable four season room while adding main floor square footage, as well as modify the interiors of their living room. Another desire for the homeowners was to relocate and build a new fireplace in the four season porch in a position that could be enjoyed through the large archways of the kitchen and family rooms.

The previous sunroom originally had glass French doors as an entryway. MA Peterson removed the doors and expanded the wall to create a beautiful solid cherry archway, which paralleled the design of the cherry archways throughout the home.  New custom windows and doors maximize the natural light in the space. In the previous location of the zero-clearance fireplace, MA Peterson, with efforts from Trademark Wood Products, paneled and painted an intimate art alcove white to match all the custom millwork.

The original reclaimed rectangular French barn tile was kept as the main floor of the porch, and new small hand-poured terra cotta tile of different shapes were added to create a decorative transition, interest, and creativity to the space. The original Douglas Fir ceiling remains, but added was a custom-shell Ironies ceiling fixture to allow for ample lighting no matter what task was at hand in this multi-functional space.  Two wall sconces were set to create ambiance at the eye level, along with recessed art lighting in the art alcove. Custom chaise lounges were designed, which created the most intimate and comfortable seating for fireside enjoyment whether you are reading, knitting or just conversing with a friend.

This newly-renovated space created a wonderful addition to the family’s lifestyle, giving a beautiful and open, yet still cozy, place to relax.

Dining Room Becomes Open Throughway in Edina

Beyond this newly-remodeled open-concept family room and kitchen space is the formal, yet welcoming dining room. This beautiful space rests between the formal living and piano room, and the open kitchen and family rooms. The similar tones, textures and clean details blend the traditional and modern designs of this Edina, Minnesota, home. Caramel-colored dining chairs introduce a hint of warmth, which is continued into the formal living and piano room and into the front entry, where a similar warm-colored bench welcomed family members and guests into the space.

A dry-bar runs parallel to the dining room and allows for wine storage along with a counter top to stage food and drink during entertaining. The unique leathered Wareham Quartzite stone is continued from the kitchen on the counter tops, keeping the design of the spaces consistent and clean. Two built-in armoires flank either side of the counter top housing barware and storage, and the opening above allows natural light into other rooms of this remodeled home.  Entertaining at its ultimate best!

Natural Light Brightens & Expands Entry Way

The homeowners of this 1960’s split-level Edina home wanted the dark colors and enclosed spaces to be one of days gone by.  The consistency of color created a balance and desire to want to stay and enjoy this main floor living space to explore it’s now breathtaking ambiance.  MA Peterson was able to find a unique approach to redefining this entry with an articulated wide-cased walkway that separates the entertainment spaces and the personal spaces of this home. Behind the enameled custom wood paneled doors is the much-needed storage for the busy homeowners’ family.

The colors of the Italian porcelain tile floor introduce the color scheme for this calm and happy living environment, leaving an energetic and unique welcome for any guest. The front entry bench compliments the cool hues of the tile with a pop of warmth, a theme which is carried through the main floor of this newly-remodeled project.

Beyond the entry, your eye is greeted with similar tones, textures and the highest level of clean details, all sparking your interest and curiosity to connect with the other freshly-remodeled spaces. The former dining room in the distance was dark, but now a large opening above the warm-colored bench seat allows natural light to stream in from both the skylight and the 3-season porch.

Screened Porch for Master Bedroom Escape

Just next to a beautiful Master Suite, there’s a secret place where you can grab a good book, start a crackling fire and escape. That’s exactly what the owners of this Edina, Minnesota, screened porch do whenever life allows.

Part of a whole house remodel of a midcentury modern home, this intimate porch was a gem that just needed polishing. It’s small and elevated, yet private and cozy.

Custom cable tension railings keep the views unobstructed, yet speak to the industrial hints throughout the home. The wood-burning fireplace tucks into the wall, and can provide some crackle and warmth to take out any chill in the air; or provide soft glowing light after the day is done.  The raised limestone hearth includes plenty of wood storage beneath along with extra seating for a quick chat, a relaxing glass of wine or warm place to get a breath of fresh air.

As outdoor living spaces go, this one has all you’d want, without being more than you need.

Indoor Sport Court with Retro School Design

Designing and building an indoor sport court to seamlessly fit the style of an industrial midcentury modern home takes a certain special eye. The new sport court in this Edina, Minnesota, home found the perfect inspiration.

Think about it: Sport courts aren’t made for tea parties. They’re for kids to go get their practice on, knock back jump shots or slap hockey pucks at seeming terminal velocity. Let’s just say it’s not a space where you break out the Carrara tile.

This sport court builds on the industrial era design of the home by leaning into an industrial retro feel, inspired by a school gymnasium of the homeowner’s youth. The walls stayed raw concrete. The ceiling, a hard plywood finished to emerge scuff free from the occasional errant ball or puck.

Simple cages over the windows give an industrial look but also serve the very important function of protecting the glass. And speaking of functional, red sport court flooring provided a trusty surface for most any sport.

A custom-built rebar railing wraps the viewing balcony while tucked neatly underneath are all the mechanicals.

A sport court that fits the era of the home, is versatile and virtually indestructible? That’s a design hat-trick.

Rapson's Midcentury Secret Garden

After completing their kitchen and bathroom, our North Oaks homeowners consulted once again with MA Peterson about one last room in their Ralph Rapson home: the indoor garden. If the name rings a bell- and it should- it’s because Rapson was a University of MN professor and one of the famous Architects behind the midcentury mod era, including the former Guthrie Theater.  Ahead of his time, Rapson's designs were open, "green" and modern.

Centralized within their home, the atrium surrounds each area with natural light. Choosing to keep the original era feel, our midcentury modern homeowners desired to enhance their love of plants and greenery to capitalize on the overhead solarium feel. Also in keeping with Rapson’s midcentury wish, kept the atrium as it was originally was intended, a gathering space and in this case – a quiet garden for the homeowner.

Traditional Wine Cellar Features Lustrous Custom Mahogany

At MA Peterson, we're not just building rooms. We're designing personal, custom spaces for living—rooms destined to become part of your life and your history. That’s why we so wholeheartedly enjoy the time we spend discussing your dreams and what you want from the space in your home. With this Wayzata, Minnesota, in-home wine cellar, MA Peterson met a variety of technical requirements as well as personal tastes.

As if you were walking into an art gallery, this luxurious wine cellar hosts over 3,000 bottles of wine in the unique individual bottle-rung floor-to-ceiling display, as well as diamond-designed shelving made of warm mahogany. A classic Cambrian black-honed counter top paired with an antique Persian run, and an antique pendant paired with modern bronze finish lighting set the mood for a formal affair or private experience. The stained concrete floors add beauty but subtly contribute to the climate control of the room, while creating an aesthetically pleasing and cozy atmosphere.

The resulting space was designed and built to demanding specifications of the homeowner as a wine enthusiast. But perhaps the most decadent feature – besides the wine itself – is the majestic atmosphere elicited by the arched mahogany doorway with its roll iron details. Known for its natural luster and beautiful color-shifting tendencies under light, this richly-hued wood softly announces that you've just entered a room of extremely good taste.

Game Room Gets Sport Simulator As Part of Larger Remodel

With this specialty room, were we emulating the energetic feel and Vegas-like lighting seen in Dave & Buster's gaming centers? Absolutely. Welcome to the game room of this Medina home, where every detail is designed for absolutely enjoyment and your basic good time: from the rich vibrant colors in the carpet and on the walls, to the trendy bar stool seating and multiple, miniature disco balls.

We excavated under the existing garage to create a total immersion experience. The result is a game room with a bar that overlooks a sports simulator for hitting golf, playing hockey, pitching baseballs and more. The creative ceiling and wall lighting not only set the mood, but also make it easy to let time drift by as everyone gets totally engaged with the challenge of the game and the thrill of the score. Is daylight breaking? No one knows and no one cares.

We made sure to include custom cabinetry for storing game accessories as well as bar essentials, and no matter how many friends swing by, the rugged carpet stands up to traffic and will keep its good look. For this family, the perfect getaway is just beneath the garage, and with this game room the night will always be young.

Remodeled Home Adds Detached Screen Porch

In Minnesota, pleasant summer days can feel all too fleeting, and this Plymouth family wanted another way to extend all the pleasures of the season. MA Peterson added a detached, exterior screened porch that connects to an existing, expansive deck wrapped around the back of the home. Textured landscaping and natural grasses provide a serene backdrop to the wooden frame, and iron balusters complete the railings with their contemporary look.

Perhaps the most brilliant aspect of this exterior space is the vibrant fabric roof. Mounted on oversized beams that extend beyond the deck, its color lends a cheerful, welcoming vibe. With the screened walls keeping bugs all at bay, this porch can easily be an all-hours destination for everyone in the family. A ceiling fan attached to the large wooden beams overhead helps stir the air on lazy summer evenings, and also includes a light that invites social entertaining or quiet reading long past dark.

We chose cushioned, wicker swivel chairs to complement the full table and dining set, so there really is no excuse to rush out into the day. An extension to the remodeled home, this screened porch is everything the homeowners wanted: an exquisite respite for enjoying all the sights and sounds of great back yard living.

Office/Media Room Has All the Amenities For Work and Play

Why have separate rooms for work and play when you can combine them in a multi-purpose, completely custom environment? These Minneapolis homeowners added a beautiful upper level home office and media room, and MA Peterson ensured the results would be readily adaptable to work, leisure and entertaining.

The epitome of grace and modern design, a floating desktop with pullout credenza provides plenty of space for working on a laptop at just a moment's notice. The drop ceiling light doubles as a convenient task lamp for work or adjusting the mood for relaxation. Merging with the desk area is a sitting room with a large television, comfortable sofa, custom bookcases and display. So whether this family is in the mood for listening to music or watching a movie, there's room to settle in and enjoy.

Also tucked away is a pull-down murphy bed, perfect for accommodating guests and helping them feel right at home.
Figured makore wood has an intriguing grain pattern that adds energy and character to the custom cabinetry throughout the room. No matter where you look, the room is designed for functionality and purpose. It easily transforms from office to sitting room to media room or guest room—with all the amenities of home.

Minneapolis Condominium Gets Fresh New Entryway

This quiet, elegant condominium home near Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the result of a unique remake. MA Peterson provided the design build for a project that combined two condo units into one, which meant the entryway required its own special attention to make it uniquely suited to the space while reflecting the homeowner's personal style.

Contemporary architecture and clean lines were essential for maintaining the atmosphere and stylish grace already prominent in this home. In this entryway, the curved wall is engaging and welcoming, with clean, flowing lines that embrace the visitor and create a smooth transition into the first room. Modern lighting overhead provides spots of lighting that lend both ambience and illumination while guiding visitors into the home.

The inherent beauty of limestone made Travertine the perfect choice for new flooring. It adds sparkling brilliance to the entry and blends with the natural tones of the surrounding architectural elements.

Overall, the end result speaks quietly with strong accent. Just near the entryway, a Spanish leather dark chair welcomes guests into a room featuring beautiful bright walls and enamel millwork. There, the unique pattern of overhead lighting continues for a clean, uninterrupted effect and a culmination of undeniable elegance.

Medina Exercise Room Overlooks Sport Court

Every specialty room we build has its own story, and it's our job to discover and celebrate it through custom architecture and design. Here's an addition that was added to the existing sport court of a Medina home, with most of it being built underground.

Large overhead glass doors bring natural light into this space, making it a well-lit exercise room for the professional athlete living here. The glass doors can be opened for immediate access to the sport court or kept closed for private exercise sessions.

Taking into account the whole family, the sport court features specialty bleachers that contain a hideout below for the kids. An authentic floating wood court rests freely without being anchored to the concrete floor, creating just the right amount of resiliency and uniformity for practice and pick-up games. And where it was previously a big, cold, white room, we exchanged all of the heating and air conditioning equipment for natural lighting that brightens things up with warmth and vivacity.

But what really gives this space its unique character is the artwork. We sourced graffiti artists off the street and gave them these walls as their canvas, introducing a premier site where their work could be displayed and enjoyed and preserved.

Edina Colonial Gets Fresh, Airy Three Season Porch

The next best thing to enjoying spectacular weather is relishing it from the comforts of a scrumptious, illuminated four-season traditional porch. These Edina, Minnesota, homeowners enjoyed a classic brick colonial home and contacted MA Peterson to design and build a specialty room for relaxation year-round.

Tall windows really bring the porch to light and life, as natural illumination penetrates the space and creates a happy, bright feel. A beadboard ceiling taps into the colonial style of the home and adds long lines that open up the feel of the space even more. Underfoot, a stone floor beckons to be enjoyed but also adds the convenience of hassle-free cleaning.

Furnishings were selected to match the family's tastes and appreciation for bright, casual comfort. The iron chairs and sofa bring their own sense of charm to the room and the marble to top bistro table makes it more than easy to settle in with a favorite book and cup of coffee, or just sit back and enjoy the views. In the center of it all is a custom gas fireplace with stone marble hearth and surround, plus bookcases for storage.

The result is a lived-in atmosphere that treats this family to refreshing tranquility and ready restoration all year long.

Sport Court with Adjoining Game Room & Exercise Room

Who says your basement needs to be boring? We took the average lower level of this Edina, Minnesota, home and turned it into a private entertainment complex, complete with an adjoining game room and exercise room. Architecture, interior design and custom cabinets all came into play in as we designed the sport court. For a truly authentic playing surface, we installed a durable hardwood floor, decked out with appropriate court lines and markings.

With low 9' ceilings, we optimized every possibility to make this into an expansive space. The custom ceiling is constructed and finished with a mind for durability and performance under high-use conditions. We also installed durable ceiling lights that can withstand the occasional errant toss.

Virtually every possible area is dedicated to storage or gaming, including two spacious closets just off the court. Custom cabinetry on the inside keeps balls and accessories readily accessible yet neatly maintained. There's a little bit of attitude and a lot of practicality in the sliding chain link interior wall, which eases back to show off a classic game area. For this client, the sport court is a great extension of their approach to life: every day is another opportunity to respond to the challenge, "Game on!"

Home Yoga Studio With Spa-like Amenities

To anyone else, this room might look like a yoga studio or exercise room. But for the Edina, Minnesota, homeowner, we actually created an ashram. For those who live the yoga lifestyle, an ashram is the destination for a yoga retreat. And with all of its purposeful architecture and interior design, the word 'retreat' is an accurate description.

We designed and built this studio in the space above the garage, taking advantage of the very literal separation from regular household energy and activity. A light, spa-like feel is evident in every detail: from the gorgeous exposed beams to the arched ceiling and luxurious bamboo floor. An Asian-style influence is evident in the artistic accessories. Custom designed niches vary in size and structure, quietly framing windows that let natural light flow into the room.

We also used a creative combination of wall sconces and pendant lighting for maximum flexibility in setting the atmosphere and mood. We took care to build in all the wiring, controls and accessories for sound, making it easy to enhance a yoga experience with the continuous flow of music. Just outside the studio itself sits a desk working area and a multi-purpose hallway, maximizing the utility and efficiency of this complete addition. And yet, the studio here is an experience unto itself.

Attached Room Becomes Indulgent 3-Season Sunroom

From sun up to long past sun down, the best porch sets the stage for all kinds of experiences and memories. There's space for family game night or drinks with friends. There's also room for quiet hours alone with a book, or a simple indulgent nap. And what sunroom would be complete if it wasn't perfectly designed to welcome in rays of morning sunshine?

We designed this beautiful three-season porch for all of that and more. The original room was already attached to the house, and MA Peterson converted it by adding just the right architectural features and interior furnishings. The fireplace in the middle of the room has an attractive limestone surround, and adds a convenient heat source for cool fall nights as well as brisk early mornings.

We added a sleek, contemporary feel with v-joint beadboard ceiling and a durable stone floor. The entire room is also wired for sound and connects with the rest of the house for interactive music selection. The furnishings were selected to reinforce the light, casual color tones and individual pops of color make an appearance in the area rug and various artwork. Friendship, family, feasting and frivolity: all of these find a warm welcome here.

Edina Midcentury Modern Outdoor Living

Part of a whole house remodel of this midcentury modern Edina home, this intimate patio was recreated to stand out. With help from Tabor Group Landscape the area was made into an open and welcoming place to entertain friends and family.

Our homeowners wanted a simplistic yet bold look to their outdoor entertaining space. Concrete was chosen as the floor base for a long lasting, easy maintenance with wood details to contrast. An L-shaped concrete bench was added nearby to fit a large crowd around the table. Throughout the backyard, the industrious straight edges are subdued by the warm lighting and wooden details. Natural colored furniture pieces offer a relaxing and comforting feel to this entertaining space. An outdoor grill and bar top was added as a separate space to wine and dine.

Whether the occasion is day or night, the outdoor space of this midcentury modern home has it.
